Interpreters and Language Interpreting

As communication has been a part of everyday life of people from different places of the world and language interpreting has gone a long way as businesses find it very vital for their operation, translation is another thing from interpreting, as it deals with written words while interpreting is done with spoken words being interpreted at present and concurrent.

Interpreting is an exact translation of words that is usually done with accuracy at any given time. The process is usually crucial, as it is done fast depending on who the speakers are and in what type of communication you are involved in. There are many types of interpreting services available for you to choose from according to your needs.

Language interpreting comes in various types. Let us give you a little knowledge of the different types so you would know what you would need in this case.

Telephone interpreting

This type of language interpreting is very useful for urgent needs. This kind costs the least of all interpreting services. This could be like the person-to-person kind. However, because the interpreter is just on the other side of the line, it is not recommended for meetings with other participants. This is often the kind of interpreting done in small groups like breakfast meetings. A three-way communication system is used for this type enabling other participants to hear and speak even if the interpreter is not physically present.

Simultaneous interpreting

Is the type of language interpreting used by organizations during conferences and meetings. Some government agencies also use it where different representatives of some countries gather for a common purpose as the United Nations does. Interpreting is done simultaneously as the speaker converses. This type of interpreting can be used by participants of different fields, such as legal or engineering. It is therefore expected that interpreters possess and obtain substantial knowledge of each field for an understanding and translation that are specific and unique for each.

Interpreters who do simultaneous interpreting are often in pairs or by teams to give interpretations of conversations in order as it is spoken. The participant of conferences wears earpieces or headphones in this kind of language interpreting, as it enables the participant to hear and understand what the interpreter is translating.

Consecutive interpreting

It is another kind of language interpreting involving personal and physical presence of the interpreter usually seated beside the speaker. After the speaker delivers his speech, the interpreter translates and interprets it to others. It is simple.
